But cannot even show up to vote.

I have been watching cspan all day. I can only imagine the pressures of the campain trial but nonetheless of what they may be the bottomline is that was their choice. I am also ignorant to the priviledges granted to these Presidental candidates. Is one of them as Cheney addressed in the VP debates not showing up for votes? I am quite serious with my question due to the votes that were on the table today Reorg of intelligence, counter center for Nuc perliferation, diaster relief funding. Is this not the job they are elected and paid to do ? It amazes me that not one of the 2 could show up for these votes that are part of the campain debates!

Come on Senetors if you want to talk the talk back yourself up by walking the walk~!~

Have a good evening~!~

I think this is a very fair question and one that bears further examination. First of all, all senator's and representatives miss votes. The work of a senator is not just done on the floor of the senate. All politicians (GOP, Dem, or ind) have to make choices about where to be when. With any given vote, they also have some sense of how close the vote is and whether their vote will make a significant difference, especially to the constituency that they represent. So, missing a vote or two may not be quite the crime that it is being made out to be. What we, as voters, have to do is follow up these assertions with attempts to put the practice in context. What is Edward's and Kerry's overall voting and attendance record? What other issues, business, or bills were competing for their vote? What riders or ammendments were included with a particular bill? In the fast and furious catalogue of their failures, this information is often glided over.

Let me recommend (as Cheney did last night) that FactCheck.org is a good place to go to check out the details and accuracy of both party's claims for their candidates and their opposition.

As far as I know they are not *expected* to show up for votes as long as they're campaigning.

In my opinion as stated in the article the votes on the table for today regardless if it was going through with or without their vote their participation in these votes would fair well for them in their campain. Just saying well it's okay if they miss it and stand up giving speeches to us on how they are for this, that and the other thing yet are unable to show up for the vote itself speaks volumes to me.

can you show proof of that? besides the fact that he really doesn't need to be there.

Cheney ostensibly shows up every Tuesday when possible; however, he only meets with Republicans.
