A converts journey
Published on September 23, 2004 By CamMeg In Religion
On the day before Yom Kippur I extend my wishes of Tzom kal (hebrew for an easy fast) to all. This time is considered the holiest time on the year in regard to the holidays the Shabbat must be recognized and followed weekly. Yom Kippur means the day of atonement during this time you refrain from work, fast, study and pray. This is essentially your last chance to change the judgement of the year.

The new Year starts with Rosh Hashanah the days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are called the Days of Awe. These days are a time in which you are to right the wrongs that have occured between you and others throughout the year if it is possible. On Yom Kippur you repent righting the wrong you are responsible for against G~d.

This is all done so when you are inscribed in the book and it is sealed on Yom Kippur your proceeding year will be one of which that has been blessed. This is a humbling time fully connecting you spirtitually recognizing and appreciating the life you have.

I still have much to learn I am practicing the rituals and continue to study I found my peace with this religion. I Look forward to the day I am fully converted in the mikvah.

I was raised catholic in a strong family. My Family is multi~cultural Great~Grandparents on one side originating from Poland & Germany on one side and the other Grandparents originating from Croatia and Ireland. Through the years of searching for the right religion I feel full connection with I found Judaism fits.

I have just recently bridged why, upon a discussion with my boyfriend. Many of the different rituals my grandparents taught me all are from judaism and the jewish culture. If you reference my Grandparents origins you too will understand my reasoning for finding my home in judaism with the exception of Ireland of course.

So upon that digression of me prefacing my personal choice of my reasoning for conversion. I wish again to say Tzom kal.

Also do your best to always remember your Derekh Eretz

~Have a beautiful day~

~Peace,Love,Health & Happiness~extended to all
